A number looks wrong
Stock, sales, profit or a customer's balance is not what you expected. Here is where to look.
Stock quantity is wrong
| What you see | Likely reason | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Quid shows less than the shelf | A delivery was not entered | Receive a delivery (add stock) |
| Quid shows more than the shelf | Breakage, theft, or a sale not rung up | Count your stock and correct the numbers |
| Quantity is below zero | Sold before the delivery was entered | Receive a delivery (add stock) |
| Quantity never changes | The item is not marked Stocked | Change, copy or remove an item |
| A bill was entered but stock did not go up | The bill is still Pending | Open the bill and complete it. Supplier bills: see what you have bought |
To see every change to one item, open it and click History.
Today's sales total is lower than expected
- Are there tickets still open on the register? They do not count until completed. See Serve several customers at once (open tickets).
- Was a sale voided? Look at with the status set to Cancelled.
- Was a sale given yesterday's or tomorrow's Date of Sale?
- Check Time Zone in . If it is wrong, sales late at night fall on the wrong day.
Profit looks too high or too low
Profit is price minus cost. Look for items with a cost of 0, or with the cost of a whole box typed in instead of one piece. See Cost, price and profit: how Quid works them out.
A customer's balance is wrong
Open the customer and read the list of account movements line by line. Usual causes:
- a payment was received but not entered: Record a payment from a customer who owes you;
- a sale was put on the wrong customer: void it and ring it up again under the right one;
- an amount was typed wrongly: correct it with an adjustment, described in Record a payment from a customer who owes you.
The tax on a sale is wrong
- Is the rate right in ?
- Is the item marked Taxable correctly? Tax is only added to taxable items.
The cash in the drawer does not match
See Till count: check the cash in your drawer.
Who changed it?
