What's new in Quid POS

The new things Quid POS can do since October 2026, each explained in plain words with a small example.

Quid POS got its biggest update in years in October 2026. Here is each new thing, what it is for, and where to find it. No experience needed.

1. Let good customers pay later

Think of it like a tab at the corner shop. A builder you trust comes in every week. Instead of paying each time, he takes what he needs and pays you at the end of the month.

  • You switch on an account for that customer and, if you like, set the most he is allowed to owe (a credit limit).
  • At the till you choose On account instead of cash. He walks out with the goods.
  • Quid keeps the running total of what he owes. When he pays, you type the amount in and the total goes down.
  • At any moment you can see everyone who owes you money, and send each a statement: a list of what they took and what they paid.

Example: Ridgeway Builders takes 218.13 of goods on Monday and 113.83 on Thursday. Quid shows "owes 331.96". On Friday they transfer 300. You record it, and Quid shows "owes 31.96".

2. Give a price before they buy

A quote is a promise of a price, not a sale. A customer asks, "How much for ten rolls of cable and thirty sockets?" You do not want to sell it yet, because he has not said yes.

  • Ring the items up on the register as usual, then press Save as quote.
  • Nothing is sold. No stock leaves. No money is expected.
  • When he says yes, one click turns the quote into an order (agreed, waiting to be collected) or straight into a sale. You never type it twice.

Example: You quote Greenfield Plumbing 56.70 on Tuesday. They call back on Friday and say "go ahead". You open Quotes & Orders, click Send to register, and take the payment.

3. Send it to their phone

Quid can make a tidy, printable page and deliver it for you. The page is called a PDF. It has your logo and address at the top, the customer's name, every line with its price, the total, and your terms at the bottom (for example your bank details).

  • Works for quotes, order confirmations, invoices and statements.
  • Send it by email, or by WhatsApp: the customer gets a link and taps it to read the document. They do not need a Quid login.
  • The link works for 7 days.

Where: on any quote, order or sale, the PDF, Email PDF and WhatsApp buttons. Steps: Send a quote, invoice or statement as a PDF · Open it in Quid POS

4. Your whole business on one page

Like the dashboard of a car: one look tells you how things are. The new Overview page shows, without running any report:

  • how much you sold today, and this month,
  • how much customers owe you in total,
  • what the stock on your shelves is worth,
  • how many quotes and orders are open,
  • your best customers and your latest sales.

Where: Overview in the menu. Tour: The Overview page: your business at a glance · Open it in Quid POS

5. Load a whole list in one go

Instead of typing 500 items one by one, hand Quid your spreadsheet. If your items or customers are already in Excel, Quid reads the file and types them in for you.

  • You can load items, customers, opening stock (how many of each you have today) and goods received (deliveries).
  • Before anything is saved, Quid shows you a preview: what it will do with each row, and which rows have a problem.
  • If you loaded the wrong file, press Undo and it is all taken out again.

Where: InventoryImport Inventory. Steps: Load items, customers or stock from a spreadsheet · Open it in Quid POS

6. Stock and costs that stay right

Three connected improvements:

Receiving a delivery is one click from the order. If you wrote a purchase order, open it and press Receive goods when the boxes arrive. The stock goes up. Receive a delivery (add stock)

Quid works out what things really cost you. Suppliers change their prices. If you have 10 rolls that cost 48 each and you buy 10 more at 52, each roll now costs you 50 on average. Quid does that sum every time goods arrive, so the profit it shows you is true. Cost, price and profit: how Quid works them out

The register warns you when stock is short. If you try to sell 5 and Quid thinks you only have 2, it says "Only 2 in stock". You can still sell (the delivery may simply not be entered yet), or you can tell Quid to refuse. "Only 2 in stock": the low stock warning

7. Help on every screen

Stuck on a screen? Press the small ? at the top right. It opens the help page for exactly the screen you are looking at. This whole help site is new too: every page is written in plain words, with pictures, for people who have never used a till program.

Start here: Find your way around the screen · Frequently asked questions · Words explained

Also changed

  • Faster and safer. Quid moved to new servers. Pages load faster and your data is backed up every day.
  • Payment connections tidied up. The old PayPal, Square and Bitcoin connections were removed. Cash, your own card machine and Stripe remain, and you can still record any other kind of payment under your own name for it. Card payments
