Card payments

Record sales paid on your own card machine, and optionally charge cards through Stripe.

There are two ways to deal with cards in Quid.

1. Your own card machine ("Merchant Services")

Most shops already have a card machine from their bank or a payment company. Quid does not need to be connected to it. You take the payment on the machine as you always have, and tell Quid "this sale was paid by card", so your reports separate card from cash.

Set it up once:

1. Go to Settings›Payment Gateways.
2. Click Merchant Services.
3. Type a name for this way of paying, as the cashier should see it at checkout: "Visa/Mastercard", "GCash", "Bank transfer".
4. Optional: Premium to Customers is a percentage you add to the bill when the customer pays this way (a card surcharge). Leave 0 for none.
5. Optional: Transaction Fee to Processor is the percentage your card company charges you. Quid uses it to show what you really received.
6. Click Save & Activate.

You can add several, one for each way customers pay you.

Use it: at checkout, choose it from the drop-down list next to Amount Received. See Take payment: cash, card, or a mix.

2. Stripe

Stripe is an online card payment company. If it is offered on your account, it appears in the same list. With Stripe connected, cards can be charged from inside Quid, including in your web store.

1. Create an account at stripe.com and complete their checks.
2. In your Stripe dashboard, open Developers, then API keys. You need the Publishable key and the Secret key.
3. In Quid, go to Settings›Payment Gateways, choose Stripe, paste both keys and click Save & Activate.

Other payment companies

PayPal, Square, Bitcoin and some older connections were retired in 2026. Payments taken that way in the past still show in your history. To record those kinds of payments now, add each as a "Merchant Services" method (way 1 above).
